About Popit Nappies - how they began

Popit is a New Zealand business born out of a desire to encourage the average mum and dad to use cloth nappies.

“I wanted to create a cloth nappy that was easy to use, affordable and absorbent enough to keep baby dry overnight – not to mention containing those explosive poos” says Amy Cope – owner and designer of the Popit nappy “I also wanted to be able to market the nappy to reach mums and dads who perhaps don’t know how easy it is to use modern cloth nappies".

With a background in fashion and over seven years experience in the fashion industry – including owning her own knitwear business for the past six years – and of course hands on experience changing her own daughters nappies, Amy was more than capable of stepping up to the challenge. “My knowledge of the industry made this an easy process and my skills in pattern making and sewing meant that I was able to personally develop this nappy – ensuring the highest quality”.

The Popit nappy was ten months in the making and was tried and tested on babies and toddlers of various ages and stages.  The nappies are produced locally right here in Auckland in a factory with proven experience in children’s wear. Popit Nappies has been up and running now since early 2008.
