	Tip solids into toilet Solids should roll off the fleece easily. Flushable liners may also be used. Solids should roll off the fleece easily as the fleece is designed to repel any mess. However if you are finding that your child has sticky poos or has very explosive newborn poo then flushable liners will make life much easier. If there is any poo still on the fleece or you are concerned about staining you can rinse this off and either store in the dry bucket or soak in cold water only.
	Dry pail Nappies can be stored in a dry bucket until washing. No soaking required. It is preferable to remove the insert from the nappy at this stage to allow the inserts to breath more. No soaking is required however if your preference is to soak then do it in cold water only as solutions can cause a build up on the nappies and reduce the absorbency. You can add a couple of drops of tea-tree oil or lavender oil to the bottom of the bucket (dry or wet) to reduce smell, and put a lid on the bucket especially if you are soaking in water as it can be a drowning hazard.
	Rinse A cold machine rinse is helpful to remove any remaining poo before washing. Make sure you have removed the insert from nappy before placing in machine.
	Wash Machine wash in a warm to hot wash (max 75°) using 1/2 the recommended amount of detergent. You can use your regular detergent but make sure it doesn’t have fabric softener in it and don’t add fabric softener to the wash as it will stop the nappies from absorbing properly. It is also advisable to avoid soap based powders such as Lux as they will also create a build up on the nappy. Avoid bleach also. You will need to have two rinse cycles after the wash to ensure that all the powder has been removed.
	Line or tumble dry Line drying is ideal as the sun is a natural bleacher. If tumble drying – dry on a low to med heat. When placing on the line make sure that the fleece side of the outer is facing upwards so that the sun can hit it. If any stains remain after your wash they should just bleach out in the sun. If it’s a wet day you can place on drying racks near a window – any UV rays will help.
